University reopens

For most students, university reopens for the new semester/term next week. Many students are returning tomorrow and this week.

Plan what you wish to take with you. Pack your stuff properly. Many students going to Egypt (Mesir) and India are taking dried foodstuff. Pre-pack all foodstuff properly. Pack your bags properly. Weigh your luggage. Luggage can be weighed at the airport before you check-in your luggage. Weigh your luggage - this is usually at an unused counter (unopened counter) at the far end of the check-in counter. The weighing scale is exact to the first decimal. The cost for excess luggage today is RM10/kg. You are allowed 20kg and you will need to pay for excess baggage before the counter staff will allow you to check in. It is alright if you are willing to pay for excess luggage. If paying is a problem, then weigh your luggage first before you check-in and make sure you remove extra stuff if your luggage weighs more than 20kg.

For some students who wish to bring along 1-3 textbooks, it maybe a problem to include textbooks to your already existing excess baggage. Try to post (air mail) your textbook if possible. International air mail has a different rate and Pos Laju will not work. Don't be sad if you have excess baggage especially if it is a textbook or two as you can carry that as hand luggage - and this "hand luggage" can be a pull bag on wheels. Don't worry but prepare well ahead and mind-map everything.

Best Wishes to all who will be leaving Malaysia. Study hard.
